FEMA flood maps soon to be available digitally

The Federal Emergency Management Administration intends to update the floodplain boundary within Carson City.

The revision reflects no new flood hazard data on the preliminary Flood Insurance Study and Flood Insurance Rate Map.

However, the 1 percent, 100-year, and 0.2 percent, 500-year, annual chance flood hazard areas and floodways on the current rate map for Carson City have been adjusted, as appropriate, to accommodate more up-to-date streamlines and topography.

The final version of the FIS and FIRM will be in digital format and available on the FEMA Web site, http://fema.gov, after the review process is completed.

Preliminary maps and flood insurance study is available for inspection and comment at Carson City Development Services, Engineering Department, 2606 Northgate Lane, Suite 6.
