The remarkable endurance of an Indian boy of Hamilton, who rode to Ely and back to that mining camp last Saturday for medicine for the sufferers in Hamilton was related to us by Dr. H.D. Cowan last night. The boy, scarcely in his teens, rode from Hamilton to Ely and back in 16 hours after working all day and then finished his day with three hours of billiards in a Hamilton saloon. The boy went for antitoxin serum to treat Mrs. C.S. Aldin who was suffering from hemmorrhagetic diphtheria. Her son had died from the disease shortly before Dr. Cowan arrived. The boy, named Allen, left the camp at 10 at night, rode 96 miles and returned at 10 a.m. Sunday morning. There are now nine cases of diphtheria in Hamilton. - White Pine News.
