Indian taco sale to benefit powwow

Desert exhibit 'Ranging' opens
The Nevada Arts Council presents "Ranging" an exhibit of Emily Silver's paintings which highlight her visceral, historical and spiritual connection with the desert.
Her artwork will be on display through Nov. 30 at the Carson City Nevada Arts Council's OSX Gallery, 716 N. Carson St., Suite A.
The gallery is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Call 687-6680.
Swing Dance Club event Wednesday
High Sierra Swing Dance Club is going out dancing from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Dick's Bar. Dick's is on Highway 50 in Mound House.
Veterans sought for Carson Middle School Stake-Out
Carson Middle School's eighth-grade students will be creating placards to honor veterans for its annual CMS Stake-out.
A Veteran Luncheon will be 11 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Wednesday to match local veterans with students who do not have a family member or friend who has served in the armed forces.
The school is seeking veterans who are willing to be interviewed (it will even provide lunch). Veterans are encouraged to bring photographs and memorabilia to share.
If you know of someone or a family member who is willing to come in for the luncheon, the service member will be included in the Stake-out.
Due to the construction this year, please enter the school at the main entrance along King Street.
The Veteran and Flag Ceremony will be Nov. 9 at the middle school. The time will be announced later.

Exhibit on Yosemite opens at Nevada Museum of Art
The Nevada Museum of Art presents "Preview Yosemite: Art of an American Icon" through Jan. 13.
The exhibit presents more than 100 works that explore the rich artistic and cultural traditions that have helped to shape America's understanding of this most-celebrated of national parks.
The Nevada Museum of Art's Donald W. Reynolds Center for the Visual Arts E. L. Wiegand Gallery is at 160 W. Liberty St, off of Lake Street, in Reno.
Admission is free for NMA members; $10 adults, $8 students/seniors.
