FERNLEY - Fernley running back Neil Kendricks scored three times and rushed for 193 yards Friday to lead the Vaqueros to a 50-0 homecoming football win against Lowry.

The Vaqueros picked up their first league win in four tries and improved their overall record to 5-3.

Fernley began to pull away from Lowry in the second quarter by scoring 30 points. The Vaqueros grabbed a 6-0 lead with 4:50 left in the first quarter when Kendricks broke loose for a 61-yard run.

Quarterback Bryce Baker accounted for two touchdowns in the second quarter as he finished the night completing 7 of 11 passes for 121 yards.

A shanked Lowry punt in the second quarter gave Fernley good field position on the Buckaroos 40-yard line. Four plays later, the sophomore quarterback zipped an 11-yard pass to Marcus Gonzales to give the Vaqueros a 12-0 lead. Baker took the ball himself for the 2-point conversion.

The defense also scored a touchdown.

Gonzales blocked a punt, and Brian Bradley recovered the ball in the end zone for a 20-0 lead. Another Lowry miscue, a fumble on the Fernley 40-yard line, came back to haunt the Buckaroos. On the second play, Kendricks ran off left tackle and outraced the secondary for 40 yards. Austin Wilson ran in the 2-point conversion for a 28-0 lead.

The Buckaroos continued to self destruct on their next possession. Brian Keathley picked off a pass at the 19-yard line. Fernley ran four plays before Baker punched the ball in from the 9-yard line. Wilson scored the 2-point conversion for a 36-0 lead at halftime.

Lowry limited Fernley to two second-half scores.

Baker found Jacob Lehman for a 13-yard pass, and Kendricks capped the evening with a 4-yard run with 2:48 remaining in the game.
