Best-selling author Ellen Hopkins will share stories from Characters of the Comstock as part of the Nevada Day weekend celebration.
The event will be held following Saturday's Nevada Day parade in the South Changing Gallery of the state museum.
The event is free for families and begins about 1:30 p.m.
After the presentation, Hopkins will offer a workshop for students in grades 6-8 and their parents.
Hopkins has authored 20 nonfiction books for children and four best-selling young adult novels. She has lived in Nevada for the past 20 years.
