DAYTON (1-1) VS. LOWRY, 7 P.M. TODAY

The Dust Devils open Northern 3A play against Lowry and while it's still too early to say this is a must win Dayton, the Dust Devils will certainly put themselves in a hole in the tough Northern 3A if they can't take care of business at home against the Buckaroos.

Dayton is coming off a 19-10 win over South Tahoe in which the Dust Devils ran the Northern 3A's record against the Northern 4A to 9-1 over the last two years.

Running back Trace Feemster has been the star so far this season for Dayton, running for 134 yards and a 3-yard touchdown last week against the Vikings. Dayton also has talented Brandon Aguilera in the backfield.

Tanner Wood received the start at quarterback for Dayton against Moapa Valley while Cory Linberg got the nod against South Tahoe. Linberg's favorite target last week was Anthony Onstott.

GALENA (2-0) AT HUG (0-2), 7:30 P.M. TODAY

The Grizzlies have went virtually untested in their first two games against Legacy (42-13) and Damonte Ranch (31-3).

It figured that the Grizzlies would receive their first test against the Hawks, but Hug has had several early season injuries and is still an unknown factor.

"We have had injuries to both fullbacks (Tali Kavapalu and Alfonso Miranda) and both tailbacks (Brian Bennett and Tonio Burton)," Hug coach Rollins Stallworth said. "It will be a game time decision (Friday night against Galena) whether or not any of those four will play."

"We also have foot and leg injuries to three of our offensive linemen so we are looking to rest as many people as possible and get them healthy for league play (next week)," Stallworth said.

Galena has one of the Northern 4A's top athletes in quarterback Jacob Anderson and one of the north's top all-around players in Jake Hess. Anderson completed 16 passes for 237 yards last week and has plenty of targets, including Steve Blackhart and Jason Parkinson, who had nine catches for 107 yards and fell on a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown against Damonte.
