Carson City man arrested in 2004 Amber Alert activation

A Carson City man was arrested Sunday on a kidnapping warrant involving a 2004 Amber Alert and the alleged abduction of an 11-month old girl.

Alejandro Lozano-Lozano, 38, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony second-degree kidnapping and domestic battery.

A warrant was issued for Lozano-Lozano's arrest in July 2005.

According to police, Lozano-Lozano and Kimberly Maddox, 19, argued in the parking lot of Jimboy's Tacos on Highway 50 East on the morning of July 1, 2004, when he allegedly struck her in the mouth. When Maddox refused to get back into the vehicle, Lozano-Lozano drove off with Maddox's 11-month-old daughter, Isabel Brown, inside. Lozano-Lozano is not the child's father, police said.

After an exhaustive four-hour search in which deputies visited a half-dozen addresses and issued an Amber Alert, Isabel's paternal aunt was able to contact Lozano-Lozano by cell phone and convince him to drop off the child at the Quik-Stop Mini Mart at Hot Springs Road and Roop Street.

The aunt told police Isabel was dropped off by a woman she didn't know.

At the time of the incident, Maddox characterized the event as a misunderstanding and told police she didn't wish to pursue charges.

Lozano-Lozano is being held on $25,000 bail.
