Gov. Jim Gibbons has requested Nevada's government buildings to lower flags to half-staff Tuesday day in honor of Patriot Day and remembrance of those who died Sept. 11, 2001.
"This day joins us together as a state and as a nation as we remain vigilant in our efforts to combat terrorism so that future generations may live in a freer, safer world," Gibbons said in a prepared statement.
He also urged all Nevadans to honor the request of President Bush to observe a moment of silence at 5:46 a.m. pacific daylight time, the time when the first aircraft crashed into the twin towers in New York.
