Gov. Jim Gibbons has requested Nevada's government buildings to lower flags to half staff today in honor of Patriot Day and remembrance of those who died Sept. 11, 2001.
"This day joins us together as a state and as a nation as we remain vigilant in our efforts to combat terrorism so that future generations may live in a freer, safer world," Gibbons said in a prepared statement.
He also urged all Nevadans to honor the request of President Bush to observe a moment of silence at 5:46 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time, the time when the first aircraft crashed into the twin towers in New York.
