Let's not forget Sept. 11

The inconveniences of a changed society: Long lines, endless security checks, early airport arrivals.

Sept. 11!

Has it been reduced to a topic of political mud-slinging, personal inconveniences and extra costs that consumers are now burdened with?

2 Corinthians 1:3-5, 7 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

"For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ ... and our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of consolation."

Though at times it may be inconvenient, let us not focus on ourselves but remember the great loss and the reason behind it, and continue to pray for the comfort of those who have paid the ultimate price and those that are offering their lives by putting themselves in harm's way to protect us from evils that might otherwise prevail.

So, if by chance, you have to get up a little earlier to get to the airport, or deal with an over zealous TSA employee, let us be reminded why. And, at that very moment, pray for one who was way more inconvenienced than you.

One of those families or loved ones who is no longer sitting across the table at dinner, sharing a birthday or a holiday.

Pray for the peace of Christ that passes all of our human understanding toward the lives of those who are suffering greatly. As autumn is approaching, may the Lord's harvest be bountiful to you and may your hearts be filled with thanksgiving for all of our blessings.
