The Rockin' the Square street dance at Telegraph Square will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday.
The dance will feature live music by Shameus, a South Lake Tahoe band that has played at the Beacon Bar & Grill on Tahoe's west shore and in Incline for 7,000 people on the fourth of July, according to one of the event organizers Morey Tresnit, of Mo and Sluggo's.
Tresnit said the sponsors " Doppelgangers, Mo & Sluggo's, The Carson Cigar Co. and B'Sghetti's " are really excited about the first-ever event.
"We want to bring more events and do more cooperative events with several merchants working together," he said.
"We worked pretty diligently for the last few months putting this together and I think we've selected a pretty good weekend, without too many other things going on."
