The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority said Friday it supports the decision to suspend the Reno Air Races.
The RTAA said agrees with the decision of the National Championships Air Racing Association to suspend the racing schedule while members of the National Transportation Safety Board, along with members of the RTAA and NCARA, review the circumstances involving three race-related deaths in the past five days.
The RTAA said its decision was in the interest of safety for the community, spectators and racers. The Reno Air Racing Association leases buildings and has a special event permit, which authorizes them to use the Reno-Stead Airport during the race week.
