The state of Nevada will receive $5.8 million from the Department of the Interior as payment of in-lieu taxes, according the Barbara Vucanovich. In-lieu payments go to local governments to compensate for lost property tax revenues on federal lands and can be used for any authorized governmental purpose.

Bruce Langson, a Carsonite, joins the U.S. land speed race. He can drive a car upside down inside a tunnel at 100 miles per hour - "if it's big enough." Langson was hired by Craig Breedlove's Spirit of American racing team as an aerodynamics consultant.
