The Western Nevada College women's soccer team won its second game in a row Sunday, taking a 2-0 nonleague victory over Feather River Community College in Quincy, Calif.
Wildcats freshman forward Jordan Forman scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season 2 minutes, 40 seconds into the game to give WNC a 1-0 lead. Forman, a Reno High School product, took the pass from Alexia Balmaseda, who is second on the team with seven goals.
Dayton High School graduate Ashley Winter rounded the scoring out at 11:35, taking the feed from Forman.
WNC oushot Feather River 6-2 in the first half, but the teams were even, 11-11, by the end of the game.
"It was a good, solid win," said third-year WNC coach Hillary Arthur. "We held them scoreless, which I'm happy about. But again, we have to work on being a 90-minute team and score goals in the second half when we have opportunities, because these past two games we've only scored in the first half. We have to continue to score goals in the first half and add goals in the second half.
"But It was a good team effort. I'm very happy with it."
With the win over Feather River the Wildcats improved to 6-2 on the season and are 0-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. WNC last lost to SWAC rival Salt Lake Community College, 1-0, on Sept. 15.
WNC will continue SWAC play Saturday at Edmonds Sports Complex, when it hosts North Idaho College. The game begins at 1 p.m.
