Melo Motorsports and Carson City teenager Mackena Bell will return to All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif., on Saturday night, as Bell makes her third career Late Model start.
Bell, the 17 year-old Legends standout, will be competing in the track's NASCAR-sanctioned Western Late Model division in a Dan Gamel-sponsored Chevrolet, her second NASCAR event. In her debut at the one-third mile asphalt oval in August, she finished incident-free in 12th place.
"I'm eager to work with the team again and continue to learn about the car," Bell said. "This weekend I will focus on doing my best, racing harder and keeping the Melo Motorsports Late Model scratch free."
Bell has become a leading female driver on the West Coast in her productive five year career. Bell was the 2005 Champion Speedway Legends champion in that track's final season. She won the championship when she was 15.
Melo Motorsports driver Kyle Cattanach of Redding, Calif., will continue to serve his role as Bell's crew chief this weekend. Cattanach will be competing in the prestigious Win River 125 next weekend at Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, Calif.
Bell and Cattanach will then team up with a two car effort in the new Norcal Nationals at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif. The Western Late Model event is slated for October 12-14.'
"We are excited to get back on the track with Mackena," team owner Marty Melo said. "Kyle feels she will have another solid showing with her confidence up and the changes to the car."
