Alfonso "Al" Bertone Jr., 78, passed away March 30, 2008, in Carson City. Al was born April 18, 1929 in Providence, R.I. the son of the late Alfonso Bertone Sr. and Anna Ardente.
He served as a State Trooper in Johnston, R.I. before moving to California where he opened the Bella Roma Italian Restaurant. Al also worked in the gaming industry at Harrah's Hotel Casino and the Eldorado Hotel Casino.
Al is past president of the Tahoe Amateur Radio Association (T.A.R.A.). He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, The International Police Association and the American Federation of Police. Al attended St. Teresa of Avila Church and served in the Army. He enjoyed fishing and cooking.
Al is survived by his long time friend and companion Helen S. Szerbiak; daughter Theresa Ann (Terry) Bertone; granddaughter Victoria; grandsons, Anthony, Eddy and Cody; great-grandson Anthony; and cousins Peggy McFarland (John) and Margie Pignolet.
At Al's request there will be no services.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley has been entrusted with final arrangements.
