The Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will join St. Mary's Alpine Mountain Choir in a public concert at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Mary's in the Mountains Church in Virginia City.

The Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy Concert Choir and Chamber Singers travel throughout the Western United States. They have performed with the Sacramento Symphony under the direction of Christian music legend Ralph Carmichael, and appeared for the third time at Disneyland's Candlelight Processional.

Their director, Michael Spencer, is a composer, arranger and keyboardist who accompanies and arranges for nationally known men's chorus Christian Edition.

Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy is a K-12 private school located in San Francisco's East Bay region. Accepting less than 300 students each year, the school emphasizes the unique qualities of each individual, and provides opportunities for personal growth in many areas.

The music program is one of these areas, and the school has a flourishing band, two choirs, a hand bell ensemble, and stages several music productions each year.

According to St. Mary's administrator Nick Nicosia, there is no admission charge and the special performance will take place before, during and after the regularly scheduled 11:30 a.m. Mass and participants are suggested to arrive by 11 a.m.

"Our other planned choir performances may be curtailed during 2008 - pending the beginning of the restoration of this historic structure - that is being supported in part by more than 700 visitors from nearly 40 states," Nicosia said.

Free tours of St. Mary's museum and the Mad Monk Fine Wine Cellar and an opportunity to meet the singers will be available immediately after the performance.

Pleasant Hill's vocal groups have visited Saint Mary in the Mountains in April of 2002 and January of 2006. They are looking forward to visiting again.

Please call St. Mary's at 847-9099 for more information. Reserved seating may be available.
