A high-risk sex offender who recently registered with the Carson City Sheriff's Department, has now registered as homeless with the Reno Police Department.

On March 24, Jerry Craig Jim, 45, had registered that he was living on West College Parkway. After the complex managers learned Jim was living there but was not on the lease, they asked him to leave, said Detective Bob Motamenpour.

Friday, the Reno Police Department put out a press release stating the Jim registered with their department as homeless, and he listed a Mary Street address as his place of employment.

Jim was convicted in 1982 of attempted sexual assault in Verdi and spent time in prison on the charge. In June 2006 he was sent back to prison in Reno for failing to register as a sex offender, according to public records. That sentence expired in February 2008.

Tier 3 sex offenders are deemed by the state as having the highest risk of recidivism. Nevada law requires law enforcement agencies to notify the community when a Tier 3 offender changes addresses.
