A Sparks man was jailed Monday night after a Wal-Mart employee called police because he'd seen the man in the parking lot more than once making out with a young girl, police said.
Michael Scott Lansdowne, 24, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony lewdness with a minor under 14.
According to the arrest report, police were told by a Wal-Mart employee that Lansdowne's red Ford pickup had been spotted "a few times in the previous week," parked behind the tire center off East College Parkway.
"A young girl would ride her bike and meet the male who was driving the truck," the report states. "The male and female would kiss for a long time."
The employee told police he thought the girl appeared to be "very young to be doing this."
Police found Lansdowne and the 13-year-old girl in the truck at about 6:30 p.m.
The girl told officers she and Lansdowne had been in a "romantic relationship" since she met him over spring break at a family member's home.
Lansdowne and the girl are related by marriage.
Detective Dena Lacy said the two had rendezvoused at the Wal-Mart at least three times. The girl was released to her mother.
Lansdowne is being held on $30,000 bail.
