His restaurant: Lau, also the head chief, will serve a mix of Asian foods, including Chinese and Japanese. He said people especially like his Mongolian beef.


Background: Lau ran Genghis Khan Kitchen in Carson City for over 20 years before moving to the Bay area. He came back to Carson City be with his family and to open a new restaurant in a good location.


How he started: Lau trained as a chef in Hong Kong before moving to America in 1982 to open a restaurant in California.


Why people like his food: "I learned in Hong Kong," he said smiling. "No one can beat me."
