SALT LAKE CITY " After some nasty words, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is making up with Utah and Arizona over law enforcement in polygamous communities.
Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff says the Nevada Democrat called to patch things up Wednesday and offered to set up a meeting with high-ranking federal authorities.
Speaking on radio station KUER this week, Reid accused Utah and Arizona of being lax when it comes to investigating crimes in polygamous communities. Reid says he's a "cheerleader" for the aggressive efforts at a Texas ranch.
Shurtleff was outraged over the criticism. But his anger apparently faded with Reid's phone call. Reid's spokesman says the Justice Department is interested in helping.
