Marlin Thomas Guild, a long-time Nevada resident, died August 4, 2008. He was 60 years of age. Born on February 16, 1948, he was raised in Yerington and attended local schools and the University of Nevada in Reno, graduating with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. He also received a War College Degree. He served in the U.S. Army for 33 years in Germany, Japan, and the U.S.A. He served his last years at the Pentagon and retired from active duty in 2001. He continued to serve as a consultant on military affairs as well as coaching local high school football teams. He was active in his church and devoted many hours to youth sport programs and numerous service activities.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Guild of Yerington.
He is survived by his mother, Rolene Guild of Yerington, his wife, Misako and sons Stephen and Adam of Springfield, Va., his sister and brother-in law, Monica and John Berhman of Escondido, Calif., nephew, Patrick Berhman of Albuquerque, N.M., niece Erin Berhman of Kailua, Hawaii, cousins Gloria (Perry) Miller and Patty Bussio of Reno, and Jack Perry of Elko, cousins Diane Guild of Olympia, Wash., Bill Guild Jr. and Ruth Rought of New Milford, Pa.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 9 in Springfield, Va. Burial will be Oct. 23, 2008 in Arlington Cemetery with full military honors.
