CARSON CITY " The Nevada Department of Transportation has grounded one of its state aircraft for repairs after a freak accident at an airport in Ely.
An NDOT administrator, Robert Chisel, said Monday that a truck left without its brakes properly set rolled into one of two propellers on the Rockwell Turbo Aero Commander.
No one was on the plane, which was tied down at an airport apron parking space.
Chisel says the aircraft engine might've also been damaged.
The plane is valued at about $750,000. Repairs are expected to take several weeks, and be paid for by insurance for the private company that operates the Ely Jet Center.
NDOT operates the Commander and a Cessna Citation jet.
The state also owns a Cessna 210 that is used by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
