Two people were injured in an accident at Carson and Colorado streets on Tuesday afternoon at 4:17 p.m.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a gold Oldsmobile LSS four-door sedan tried to cross Highway 395 from the Quail Park Shopping Center.
The sedan was T-boned by a southbound Chevy SUV.
The impact sent both vehicles into the northbound lanes, with the driver's side of the sedan crushed and the vehicle facing north. The SUV ended facing south in the northbound west turn lane into the shopping center across from Colorado Street.
The middle-aged male driver of the sedan and an 18-year-old female passenger were extricated by emergency crews from the wreckage. A Care Flight helicopter landed on the northbound side of the highway in front of the Brake Team business.
The man was taken by helicopter from the scene to a Reno hospital. The female, who
sustained facial injuries, was later taken to a Reno hospital by helicopter from Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.
Two additional teenage passengers appeared shaken up but uninjured.
The female driver of the SUV and a small child did not sustain injuries.
Northbound traffic was routed through the frontage road in front of the former National Guard Armory.
