Dennis R. Phelps, 62, passed away at his home in Carson City, August 18, 2008. He was born April 1, 1946 in Glendale, Calif. to Howard and Dona Phelps.
He graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in 1964. He lived in Carson City for the last 30 years coming from Los Angeles, Calif. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge in Carson City. He belonged to the United Grocer's Union. He worked at several grocery stores in California and worked at Warehouse Market in Carson City for several years. After he retired from the grocery business he owned and operated DR Phelps Automotive in Carson City. Dennis was very well known for his 1915 Ford Model T Touring. He drove his Model T in the Nevada Day Parade and Hot August Nights numerous times.
Among his survivors are his ex-wife Ellie Phelps; parents Howard and Dona Phelps; daughters Wendi Thackston and Cherie and Tom Borst; sisters Sue Highland, Lisa Fusano, Jeri Coulson; grandchildren Julio and Garrette Deleon, Heather and Skyler Thackston, Nickolas and Tyler Borst; great grandchildren Julio Jr. and Persia Deleon Gonzales.
A Celebration of his life will be 10 a.m., Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
