Groups seeking funding this year for projects involving historic buildings in Nevada have until Oct. 1 to file their applications.
The Commission on Cultural Affairs annually distributes $3 million in grants to governmental agencies and non profit organizations around Nevada to preserve and rehabilitate historic structures into cultural centers.
The money comes from bonds approved by the Nevada Legislature and the program is managed by the State Historic Preservation Office.
Previous grants have supported more than 80 different buildings in Nevada " with Virginia City's Fourth Ward School and Piper's Opera House receiving some of the largest amounts of money.
