A black bear was spotted on the Carson City's east side this morning, according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
The bear was seen around Saliman Road, Edmonds Drive and Colorado Street, but was not digging in garbage or threatening anyone, said Chris Healy, a representative with the department.
It seemed to be "just passing through," he said.
The animal was probably crossing to the Sierra Nevada west of the city to the Pine Nut Mountains east of the city, he said.
Bear sightings are somewhat common in Carson City, he said, but usually happen on the west side of the city at night.
