RENO " Upset over strangers picking through their trash, some Reno residents plan to ask the City Council for a law to prohibit garbage scavenging when the trash is out on the curb awaiting pickup.
Homeowners say they've had others picking through their garbage looking for recyclable items, often tearing open trash bags and leaving a mess.
They plan to take their concerns to the City Council Dec. 17.
Others note that it's already a misdemeanor to take recyclable items from curbside residential crates.
But they acknowledge that enforcing the law isn't easy.
