(Nevada Appeal News Service) " Douglas County commissioners approved a variance for the oil derrick-shaped sign to mark the entrance to the planned Beverly Hillbillies Mansion and Casino.

The OK only came after an agreement was reached to decreased the size of the sign by 10 feet.

Developer Max Baer Jr. wanted the sign to be 90 feet high but opted instead for a maximum height of 80 feet. He also sought to have a sign with a larger area than that currently allowed in Douglas.

This was the third appeal of a planning commission decision to be presented to commissioners for the proposed sign.
