A Carson City woman responsible for checking documents of new hires at a Carson City business was arrested Tuesday by Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles investigators for possessing a fraudulent driver's license and credit card, an official said Thursday in a news release.
Maria Gabriela Arcadia, 37, who went by the name Jackie Guzman, was arrested at American Building Company, where she worked as a human resource coordinator, on one count of submitting a false application, one count of possession of a fraudulent document and one count of identity theft, all felonies.
Arcadia, a Mexican national, has allegedly maintained two identities with the DMV since August 1999, according to the release.
She allegedly obtained an identification card under her own name in 1998 and eventually a driver's license, and an identification card in the name of Jacqueline Guzman, a U.S. citizen, in 1999, the release states.
According to Tom Jacobs, spokesman for DMV, Arcadia recently renewed both forms of identification, renewing her driver's license under Arcadia in July and her identification card under Guzman on Dec. 9.
The DMV's facial recognition technology, integral to the DMV's new Central Issuance system, matched her photograph to the two documents, said Jacobs in the release.
Investigators also allegedly recovered an authentic U.S. issued birth certificate and Social Security card in Arcadia's alias, said Jacobs.
She was also allegedly in possession of a credit card in the name of Guzman.
She is being held on $30,000 bail.
