Clouds back in; chance of snow tonight

Drive carefully on surface streets, some may still have areas of snow and ice.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:48 a.m. all routes are open with no controls with the following exceptions:

SR88 " Chains required except for 4-wheel-drive vehicles for 26.3 miles between Dew Drop, Calif. and Silver Lake, Calif.

SR431 " Snowtires or chains required for 7.8 miles between 7.8 miles between 4.8 miles north of SR 28 and 11.9 miles south of US 395.

Some surface streets in Carson City have ice and snow. Drive carefully.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays. There is continued work on Fairview Drive from South Edmonds to South Carson Street with lane closures and possible delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.

Today's weather will have areas of freezing fog and low clouds in the morning, otherwise mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow this afternoon. Highs 26-36 with southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, breezy with a chance of snow in the evening and snow after midnight with accumulations of 1-2 inches. Lows 12-22 with southwest winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Friday, breezy with snow in the morning then likely in the afternoon with accumulation of 1-2 inches. Highs 25-35 with southwest winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph becoming west 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph in the afternoon.
