Wallace "Wally" Howard Clark, a resident of Carson City, NV since 1985, passed away the morning of Dec. 22, 2008 at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center
Wally was born in Springfield, Ill. to Roy and Hazel Clark and was an only child.
After graduating high school, he joined the Marine Corps in December of 1942 and served as a Radio Operator in World War II. He was honorably discharged in March of 1946. Recalled to service in 1951, he served in the Korean War. A distinguished and decorated serviceman; he later became a pilot for the famed Blue Angels.
He retired from the service and later went to work for Western Electric under contract to the Navy for communications services in the Caribbean and at Treasure Island.
Later, while working for Pacific Telephone, he met his wife, Rose King Ng Clark, his love and partner for almost 40 years.
A lover of music and entertainment, Wally worked in vaudeville and radio with many well-known stars of the time. He was roommates with Glen Ford for a time, and also with Tyrone Powers. He was a long-time friend of Bob Cummings and Mel Tillis.
More than twenty years ago, Wally became active in casino management and served as
Entertainment Director for local casinos and stage acts; most notably for the Ormsby
House, from about 1990 to about 1995. His love of music continued after retirement and he became a huge fan of karaoke, performing regularly at numerous local venues.
He held a 412 FCC amateur radio license with call sign K6SPD.
Wally is preceded in death by his son, Wally Jr.
Wally is survived by his wife, Rose Clark cousins Eileen and LaRue, cousin-in-law Rosemary Irwin, brothers-in-law Thomas, Edward and Gene Ng, sister-in-law Susan Lin, numerous nephews and nieces, and many friends who have been blessed to know and love this very tall and humble hearted man. Wally will be in our hearts, often thought of, and deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m., Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop St., Carson City. Reception to follow at the Carson Nugget, second floor banquet room.
