Tahoe shooting victim no longer in coma

Eric Domingo, the South Tahoe High School graduate who was shot in the face over the weekend, has shown some signs of improvement, family members said.

"He is not in a coma anymore," Domingo's brother, Adam Roland, said. "He is responsive to some commands."

Contrary to previous reports, Domingo, 21, has not been in a coma since late Sunday morning, Roland said.

Per his family's wishes, Roland declined to comment further until he heard more from doctors.

The signs of improvement may be encouraging to police, who are hoping to interview Domingo about the shooting, which occurred at about 8 a.m. Saturday.

The alleged shooter, Casey Curcie-Crummett, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm after the incident, but police have yet to say whether they believe the shooting was intentional or accidental.

"We haven't made a determination just yet," said South Lake Tahoe Police Department Lt. Marty Hale.

"We're moving forward, but there's nothing we feel comfortable releasing yet," Hale added.
