STATELINE - Douglas County Sheriff's deputies said Saturday they were looking for three suspects in a shooting that occurred Friday night in the parking garage at Harveys Casino.

A man was injured and one of the suspects is thought to be a gang member from Carson City, according to deputies.

At approximately 9:30 pm, nearly a dozen Douglas County Sheriff's deputies responded to the parking garage in reference to a reported fight and possible shooting between two small groups of rival males.

Officers arrived and learned that two rival groups of young males, approximately four to five males in each group, had engaged in an altercation on the first floor of the parking garage at the casino, said Sgt James Halsey, Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

The fight ended when one of the involved males retrieved a shotgun from an unknown location and discharged the weapon toward the other group. At that time, all involved parties from the two groups ran away and traveled in separate directions.

Three subjects who matched the description of possible involved parties were detained approximately one-quarter mile from the location of the shooting, in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.

One of the detained males was identified Gary Trader, 18, of South Lake Tahoe. Trader also was identified as the victim of the gunshot incident, according to Halsey.

Trader had been hit in the left cheek, left side of his neck, and left shoulder by shotgun pellets. Paramedics were called to assist Trader; however, he refused the emergency medical treatment.

The other two males with Trader at the time of this investigation were identified as John Alfert, 18, and a 16 year-old male, both also residents of South Lake Tahoe.

Alfert and the juvenile male provided information substantiating Trader's, Halsey said.

Other involved in this incident have not been identified or contacted. The firearm used in the incident has not been recovered. The investigation is continuing, he said.
