Bust in Incline Village nets cocaine, marijuana and cash

Cocaine, marijuana, two guns and almost $50,000 in cash were seized from an Incline Village home on Friday.

Three men inside a Catherine Drive home were arrested late that evening on multiple drug charges by deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, said Sgt. Bill Devine.

Steven Kelly, commander of the WCSO Incline substation, said his deputies originally went to the home to serve a civil document to the home's owner. The deputies made an observation while serving the document that tipped them off to possible drug activity, Kelly said.

They then obtained a search warrant from Incline Justice Court Judge Alan Tiras and returned to the home. After the search, the deputies arrested Darrin Bowling, 46, Lawrence Buck, 45, and James Bader, 32, on drug charges.

Lt. Russ Peterson said two of the men were Nevada residents and one was from California. Peterson said one of the men owned the home but could not say which one of the three was the homeowner.

Deputies discovered just under one pound of marijuana, one-half ounce of cocaine, just less than $50,000 in cash, a 12-gauge shotgun and a .22-caliber rifle, Devine said.

Devine said the men will have to explain in court where they got $50,000 in cash.

Bader was booked on three felony charges: trafficking a controlled substance, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of cocaine. He was also booked on two misdemeanor charges, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Peterson said the delinquency charge was added because when deputies were searching the home they located an underage juvenile.

Bader's bail was set at $24,770, of which $20,000 stemmed from the charge of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.

Records at the detention facility did not provide bail amounts for Bowling and Buck but did confirm all three men were released on bail.

Kelly said both Bowling and Buck would be facing charges of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and trafficking controlled substances.

Kelly said the home's owner would face a charge of maintaining a place of drug distribution.

Peterson said deputies had reason to believe the men had intent to sell drugs because of packaging material found within the home. He also said deputies did not know to whom the men were allegedly selling drugs.
