James S. TenBroeck passed away on December 19, 2007 at his home in Genoa, Nevada. The cause of death was pancreatic cancer.
Jim was born August 17, 1927 in Buffalo, New York and was the eldest son of James Samuel TenBroeck and Alice Evelyn Gunther.
Jim and his wife Donna had a 35 year romance that illuminated their life and was a joy for their friends and family to observe. They were devoted to one another and were a happy and active presence in every community in which they lived.
Jim was one of DuPont's most outstanding research scientists and his storied career was filled with many innovations and technical solutions to seemingly intractable problems. He holds numerous US patents and is the inventor of several commercial processes used in the chemical industry today.
Jim had a fierce intellect and a legendary ability to work long and hard hours. However, what is remembered most is his warm and gentle heart. He quietly helped all whose lives he touched. He never sought thanks or recognition for his many acts of compassion and charity for others and he is loved by a great many people whom he touched during his life.
Jim is survived by his wife, Donna, his son Greg, his daughter-in-law Karen and two grandchildren, Kari and James TenBroeck. He is deeply missed by all his extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on January 12, 2008 at Saint Gall's church in Gardnerville and will be followed by a reception at 2:30 p.m. at Antoci's restaurant at the Genoa Lakes Golf Club in Genoa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to www.pancreatic.org which funds research into cures for pancreatic cancer. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
