Lyon sheriff spent week in hospital fighting the flu

Lyon County Sheriff Alan Veil was released from the hospital on Friday after spending a week there, Undersheriff Joe Sanford confirmed on Friday.

"It appeared to be a bout of the flu," said Sanford. "His son had been home sick the week prior. We don't believe it's anything serious. Doctor's have ruled out everything else."

Veil was in Sparks over the weekend for his daughter's wedding and began to feel ill there, Sanford said.

He has been in the Northern Nevada Medical Center in Sparks since Monday.

He was released from the hospital Friday afternoon.
