Kelli Robbins of Fernley has submitted more photographs taken by her husband Andrew of the flooding in Fernley caused by a levee break on the Truckee Canal.

Evacuations are in place, and people are being taken to Fernley High School. Reports indicate that the waters are receding. Two-hundred homes have flooded and 3,800 people have been trapped by flood waters and without electricity. Water has been estimated to be 2 to 3 feet in some areas, to 5 to 6 feet in others.

Another snow storm is expected to hit in the next three hours.

"The water to the canal has been shut down. The water is receding," Fernley Mayor Todd Cuttler told KTVN-News in Reno. He said well over 100 people are taking shelter at the highschool and that Wal-Mart is sending clothing for those that are wet.

"What I see is a lot of people working together to help each other," Cuttler said.

Cuttler was notified at 5:30 a.m. and by that time the Tahoe Canal Improvement District crews had already shut down the water.

Cuttler said he has been in contact with the governor's office. Helicopters from NAS Fallon are assisting in the evacuations.
