Dayton boys hold off Sparks

The Dayton High boys basketball team picked up a huge win on the road to stay unbeaten in the Northern 3A, beating Sparks 51-47 on Friday.

Dayton (12-4, 5-0) led by 12 points in the fourth quarter and had to hold off a Sparks rally. Sparks had a chance to take the lead with 30 seconds left, but Dayton held on with Jerrin Foster hitting two foul shots to seal the win.

Tanner Wood scored 13 points, Hans Meyer had eight points, Foster had seven points and Byron Trigueros, Josh Goodfellow and David Gomez all added six points for Dayton. Dust Devil coach T.W. Cunningham also praised Meyer's all-around play.
