BAC presents Legends of Rock


The Brewery Arts Center and ACCtv present the Brewery's Legends of Rock 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Performance Hall at the Brewery Arts Center, 511 W. King St.


Rock legend Jerry Corbetta of Sugarloaf teams with special guests Dennis Noda (Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs), Omar Martinez (Paul Revere and the Raiders), and Carson's very own Atlantic Recording artist Michael Furlong (Rusty Butts, Michael Furlong Band, and Rob Hannah's Tribute to Rod Stewart) to create this once in a lifetime event. Little League sign-ups scheduled


Carson City Little League will hold sign-ups 8:30 a.m.-noon Saturday and Feb. 2 at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. All kids ages 5-12 must bring proof of residency and a birth certificate to register. The cost for one child is $60, $90 for a family. 'Winter Wine and All That Jazz' at Nugget


Cancer Advocates for Cancer Care (CACC) will host its 13th annual "Winter Wine and All that Jazz" event from 7-10 p.m. Saturday. Good food, wine, entertainment and prizes make this party a favorite with locals and visitors.


This year, the Carson Nugget will provide a variety of hors d'oeuvres and fresh fruit to accompany the fine wine tastings from more than 40 wineries.


Silent auction prizes up for bidding include paintings from local artists, hotel getaway packages and a motor scooter. Russ Lindquist and his 18-piece High Sierra Band will entertain listeners.

Wakeling, English Beat play two shows


Dave Wakeling and The English Beat are coming back to Tahoe for two big shows. The first is 9 p.m. Friday at MontBleu Resort in Stateline. Tickets are $25. The next night The English Beat will perform at Olympic Village Inn at Squaw Valley at 9 p.m. Tickets for this show at $20 advance and $25 day of show. Brother Dan plays in Truckee sites


Singer/songwriter Brother Dan Palmer brings his unique blend of original music and cover tunes to Truckee twice this month. He will appear at OB's Pub and Grill Friday and at The Cottonwood on Jan. 31. The long-time local resident spends much of his time touring these days, and is looking forward to playing in his own backyard.

Sacred Steel concert in Fallon


CAC will present a concert of Sacred Steel music with the Campbell Brothers at 8 p.m. Friday at the Barkley Theatre, Oats Park Art Center, 151 E. Park St., Fallon. Tickets are $17 for CAC members, $20 for nonmembers, $10 for children and students at Jeff's Copy Express, Postage Plus, ITT/NAS Fallon or a 423-1440.


Doors will open at 7 and there will be a no-host Art Bar. There will be a free and open-to-the-public conversation with the artists about the roots of the musical tradition at 4 p.m. on the day of the performance.


Sacred Steel is an African-American musical tradition that utilizes the versatility and expressive potential of the steel guitar to accompany praise vocals deeply rooted in the gospel-blues tradition.
