Feedback sought on Yucca Mountain


Property owners from rural Nevada are expected to share their concerns about the Department of Energy's plans to build a railroad through Caliente to its proposed Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump at the 11 a.m. today's meeting of Nevada's Commission on Nuclear Projects.


The meeting is set for the Clark County Government Center, County Commission Chambers, 500 South Grand Central Parkway in Las Vegas. Members of the public are encouraged to attend.




Corvette club seeking new members


The Lake Tahoe Corvette Club is currently conducting a membership drive for Corvette owners in the greater Carson area and around Lake Tahoe who would like to meet with other Corvette owners to socialize and enjoy Corvette related activities.


Monthly meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month from March through November. Meetings alternate between Lake Tahoe and Carson City.

Sign-up for Little League play


Carson City Little League baseball will hold sign-ups 8:30 a.m.-noon Saturday and Feb. 2 at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. Williams St. All children ages 5-12 must bring proof of residency and a birth certificate to register. The cost for one child is $60 and $90 for a family. Brewery to present 'Legends of Rock'


The Brewery Arts Center and ACCtv present the Brewery's "Legends of Rock" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The Brewery's "Legends of Rock" features great musicians of the '70s and '80s who helped define an era.


Rock legend Jerry Corbetta of Sugarloaf teams with special guests Dennis Noda (Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs), Omar Martinez (Paul Revere and the Raiders), and Carson's very own Atlantic Recording artist Michael Furlong (Rusty Butts, Michael Furlong Band, and Rob Hannah's Tribute to Rod Stewart) to create this once in a lifetime event.


The concert will be in the Performance Hall at the Brewery Arts Center, 511 W. King St. Tickets are $18 for all seating. A $3 discount is available for BAC members, students and seniors.

Auto Museum hosting alternative transportation expo


The Alternative Transportation Club, Electric Auto Association, Altairnano, Inc, and Phoenix Motorcars, Inc. will host an exposition 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the National Auto Museum, 10 S. Lake St., Reno. Enjoy speakers, Electric Vehicle displays including the 2007 Phoenix Motorcars SUV and a 1914 Detroit Electric 46 Gentleman's Roadster.
