Sacramento's Otis Griffin and Yerington's Jesse Brinkley will fight for the vacant WBC-USNBC super middleweight title on February 22 in Reno.
The Griffin/Brinkley fight won't just be a War For the West - it is now for the vacant USNBC belt and world ranking implications. As former reality TV stars, this is also a chance for both fighters to prove that their names belong with the top contenders at 168 pounds.
The fight will take place at the Silver Legacy Resort - a middle-ground site for both fighters and their fans.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling the Silver Legacy box office, (800) 687-8733. Prices are $30, $75, and $150. Doors will open at 6 p.m., first bout is at 7. Under-card information will be announced soon. All bouts are subject to change.
Pop Warner elections are scheduled
Carson City Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading has scheduled its 2008 elections. All CCPW members are invited to attend the Carson City Pop Warner Executive Board elections.
Positions up for election are president, treasurer and equipment manager. Carson City Pop Warner also needs volunteers.
The elections will be held at the Nevada Military Department, 2460 Fairview Drive, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24.
Softball umpires are needed
The softball chapter of the Northern Nevada Officials Association is looking for this interested in umpiring high school softball this season.
