A third juvenile was arrested in connection with a series of home burglaries, an official said Thursday.

Carson Sheriff's Detective Craig Lowe said interviews with a 12-year-old runaway and his 16-year-old friend arrested Tuesday night led officers to a 14-year-old Carson City boy on Wednesday night.

Police believe the trio were involved in at least six, and perhaps as many as nine, burglaries in the neighborhood between Fairview Drive and Empire Ranch Road in East Carson City from Jan. 7 to Tuesday.

Lt. Bob White said officers contacted the first two juveniles after a homeowner reported the two had knocked on her door and asked for someone who did not live there. The woman found it suspicious, White said, because a few weeks earlier, the same boys had knocked and asked for someone different.

When police stopped the boys walking nearby, they found watches in one of their pockets. A further search of a home related to the children resulted in the recovery of laptops, cameras and other items that had been reported stolen from the burglaries on Lepire Drive, Walker Drive, Sundance Court, Empire Ranch Road, Gregg Street and Quinn Drive, White said.

White said evidence found at the homes that were burglarized, including footprints in the snow, indicated the break-ins were all connected.

Anyone who may have fallen victim to one of these burglaries and has not yet reported it is asked to call the Carson City Sheriff's Department at 887-2020 ext. 41400.
