Road conditions and weather outlook for Thursday

Overnight and continued light snowfall is keeping surface streets and area highways slick. Drive carefully for the conditions.

Snow removal equipment is working area roads.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 6:29 a.m. the following road controls:

Interstate 80 " Chains mandatory for 37.8 miles between Alta and 1.8 miles west of Truckee, Calif.

Highway 50 " Chains mandatory for 23.3 miles between 4.1 miles east of Placerville and 2 miles west of Kyburz, Calif.

Snow tires or chains required for 22.2 miles between 3.5 miles east of Kyburz and SR 89.

Highway 395 " Snow tires or chains required for 73.1 miles between Bridgeport, Calif. and 5 miles south of Carson City.

Today's weather calls for snow in the morning then scattered snow showers in the afternoon with accumulation of 1-3 inches, and highs from 27-37 with southwest winds 10-15 mph.

Tonight snow is likely with south winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the evening. Snow accumulation up to 3 inches with lows 19-29.
