A dispatch from Rhyolite says that A. D. Meyers took a fall out of "Scotty" on the public street of that camp. After mauling the Death Valley terror to his heart's desire Meyers permitted his victim to escape. The trouble arose over a remark made by Meyers in connection with the statement that "Scotty" was negotiating for a special train to carry high grade ore to the Vallejo smelter. Meyers is reported to have said that if "Scotty" had any high grade in his possession it must have come from Goldfield.

Changing styles in women's apparel and home furnishings were blamed for the sheep industry's woes by Jerry Sheehan, president of the state board. "Look at the way women dress nowadays," he said, "There's not an ounce of wool in their clothing. And they don't carpet their houses the way they used to."
