The Nevada Highway Patrol says trooper Chava Rothschild suffered moderate chest injuries when her patrol car was struck by another vehicle during white out conditions in Washoe Valley.
Rothchild was reportedly taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
Traffic is reportedly bumper-to-bumper and moving at very slow speeds both directions as troopers continue to work on the accident.
Trooper Scott Simon says gusty winds and blowing snow are creating icy road conditions and poor visibility.
Several accidents were reported on the highway this morning.
