All Carson City residents are being asked to voluntarily cut back outdoor irrigation as much as possible until further notice.
Currently water demand is exceeding production capabilities. That's because of declining tank levels due to the hotter temperatures and declining flows from the west side streams due to the Marlette Lake project.
Overall the water system storage is 44 percent or 16 million gallons, which is sufficient for fire flows and daily domestic use, according to Carson City Public Works.
