A Nevada Army National Guard Black Hawk helicopter struck a tree on a training mission this morning and crash landed near the Hobart Reservoir. None of the four soldiers on board the aircraft were injured, according to Army Guard spokesman Sgt. First Class Erick Studenicka.
Studenicka said the accident happened about 10 a.m. at an elevation of 7,700 feet in the mountains between Ash Canyon and Lake Tahoe.
An Army investigation team is at the scene to determine if the aircraft can fly. If not, said Studenicka, it will be trucked out of the remote area and taken to the aviation facility in Reno.
