SACRAMENTO " A 40-year-old Sacramento Regional Transit employee has been struck and killed by a light-rail train.
Authorities say Troy Steven Schafer of Rocklin was lubricating the tracks Thursday at a light-rail stop north of downtown when he was struck shortly before 1:30 p.m.
Schafer was a track maintenance employee. His wife, Donna Schafer, described her husband as an incredible father. The couple have two boys, ages 10 and 11.
Investigators are reviewing the train's operating data and video recordings to try to determine why the eastbound train failed to stop.
The train operator was tested for drugs and alcohol.
