Oktoberfest crafters and vendors sought


The Carson City Library Foundation is looking for crafters to participate in the 10th annual Oktoberfest, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4. The event will be held in the Pony Express Pavilion. The booth sizes are 10 x 10 and cost $50. The Pavilion is semi-enclosed, protected from the sun, but not the wind. The proceeds benefit the Carson City Library. For information, call 883-2834.


Douglas County


Book sale going on through Aug. 9


The Douglas County Public Library is having a used book sale in the front lobby of the Minden branch during regular library hours, through Saturday, Aug. 9. Videos/ DVDs, audio books, and paperback books will be on sale. Paperbacks will cost 50 cents each. Other items will be priced as marked. New library hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m..; Thursday, Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Minden library is located at 1625 Library Lane. Ghost of Mark Twain ongoing


McAvoy Layne is The Ghost of Mark Twain, 6:30 p.m. through Sept. 28 at 230 Village Blvd., Incline Village. A lively part of the program is when Layne, as Mark Twain, takes questions from the audience. Bring your own refreshments. For tickets, call 833-1835.




Tahoe Rim Trail


Make reservations for guided hikes to Mt. Rose Waterfall


The Tahoe Rim Trail Association will provide guided hikes 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 2 for families to the Mt. Rose Waterfall. The hike is a total of seven miles. Bring a lunch. Children over seven are welcome as well as well-behaved dogs. Sign up in advance; space is limited. For information, call 298-0012.
